Reproduction Rear Load Beach Bombs
z   BV Beach Bomb, Omega   z

Overall the BV Omegas have better details, plating and paint then the BV Alphas.  BV made the changes as people requested a closer resemblance to the originals. Following is a list of changes from the Alpha to the Omega model.

Body Changes

  1. Smooth Roof Contour, Removed the Diamond Pattern on the Roof (Alpha has a faint diamond pattern)

  2. Sunroof is more square (Alpha is rectangular)

  3. Engine cooling louvers are more defined (air intake vents, Alpha intakes are shorter and not as deep)

  4. More compact and fatter sliding door handle (alpha is less defined)

  5. All four side marker lights were made to protrude a bit more

Roofline changes (roof line drip rail)

  1. front between lip and edge reduced by 50%

  2. rear between lip and edge reduced by 50%

Die Cast Process Change

  1. utilized “hot chamber” high pressure induction to give more of a “hardware” finish on the body (Superior casting process, creating a smoother and more dense exterior finish, alpha is more porous)

Plating process

  1. utilized “copper strike” plating layer prior to a bright zinc plate, like the early cars for maximum adhesion and reflection

Paint Process

  1. Urethane automotive paints used to provide enduring luster – Alphas were acrylic lacquer.

The end product still had many variations from the originals to keep everyone honest (anyone that has tried to put a sideloader base on a BV RLBB body has had to fight long and hard with the fact that the post bosses are further apart than the originals. This and other subtle differences help preserve the value of the real ones out there.
